Peeler Crab

Our
pilot plant produces a limited amount of peeler crabs,
which we sell as
bait for anglers. Our production and growing process, is aimed at
being environmentally friendly and every effort is made to produce
top quality peelers whilst
reducing the load on the environment. Our trade waste, unlike many
other aquaculture companies is recycled into valuable feeds. Growing
mudworm on the detritic waste produced by our crabs, allows us to
reduce the impact of our companies operations by culturing a secondary
crop, which is used as a diet for young crabs, ensuring they
get off to a flying start.
We also encourage heterotrophic bacteria to populate our tanks,

growth by the addition of Carbon. These bacteria, together with
algae growth within the facility, further help reduce nitrogen concentrations,
the main constituent of any aquaculture facilities waste.
Every crab we produce, is one less crab taken from the shoreline
by anglers, saving perhaps a dozen or more boulders being turned
whilst avoiding trampling and bird disturbance. We are proud of
this fact as we feel we are putting something back into nature,
which we ourselves as anglers have helped destroy over the years.
Buying cultured bait, no matter whether it is crab or worm is an
environmentally
responsible thing to do, as well as saving you the backbreaking
task of collecting it.
