JW Aquaculture (Research) Ltd is a Research and Development Company, carrying out research into the commercial feasibility of culturing the European Shore Crab (Carcinus maenas) on shore in holding tanks.

The major thrust of our Companies activities is to help protect the Bio-diversity of our shoreline by providing Anglers with an alternative ‘greener’ method of obtaining bait for their fishing sessions. Key to this aim, is the education of Anglers and the general public in the need for preservation of our natural assets and offering a best practice guide to exploring the seashore and bait collection, which we will achieve by using promotional material and through our new web site at - www.jwaquaculture.co.uk

JW Aquaculture (Research) Ltd is acutely aware that its activities have an impact on the environment. We are committed to continual improvement of environmental performance and establishing an Environmental Management System (EMS) to fulfil the requirements of ISO 14001 as a minimum standard.

The Management of JW Aquaculture (Research) Ltd whilst primary responsibility for ensuring that our daily operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner, also recognise that our employees are integral in achieving this outcome. We therefore take it upon ourselves to inform and train our employees to take account of environmental issues in their areas of work and to assist them with their specific environmental responsibilities. We will ensure that our standards exceed any legislation requirements and set our own high standards where none exists.

     We will as a minimum:
  • Minimise waste and maximise efficient use of natural resources
  • Prevent pollution
  • Set up procedures to assess the environmental impact of our operations and strive towards ever improving our environmental performance
  • Educate Anglers and the general public on Bio-diversity issues, offering a best practice guide to use
    of the sea shore
  • Encourage our customers, suppliers and General Public to subscribe to our environmental beliefs
  • Compile daily, weekly, monthly and annual effluent discharge reports
  • Satisfy and where possible exceed requirements of all environmental legislation, our discharge consent and approved codes of practice
  • Provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment

  • Minimise our energy usage
  • Educate employees on environmental issues
  • Review our Environmental Policy and the EMS on an annual basis ensuring it remains appropriate
